Who would like to see Will Sandin who played Michael as a kid and made the first kill by stabbing his sister in the original immortal timeless classic Halloween. Ok thats enough dramatics, who besides me needs to see this guy to add him to their stuff...

Has he done a show before? He would be interesting to meet although I am sure he would be like Tony Moran and charge way too much for his autograph. If that's the case then I would have to pass on him.

He just did his first show last year at H30 and doing his second show at Monster Mania in August. I have no idea what the kid has been up to since that film, I think that's his only credit.
I'm sure he would charge the 20 dollar rate, as frustrating as that is, it's business as usual.

Yes he is $20 but who isn't these days. He is now a police officer in Los Angeles and as underpaid and as dangerous a job as that is he's earned it.

And you wonder why I look up to you so much, you are like god. You rarely speak, but when you do, you are wise and full of info. : )
A member of the LAPD, wow, I would have never guessed it. Because of Ebay and the secondary market, just about everyone is going to charge 20. I actually have no problem with celebs charging as much as they do, the morons that jack up the prices on the elsewhere are the ones that ruin for a true collector like myself.
We have all had debates til the cows come home about who deserves it and who doesn't. A majority of the "Michaels" have done shows now and for people that need Will and thought they would never meet him, 20 bucks is a drop in the bucket to complete that poster.
The story I will never forget is when I first met Ken Foree back in 2003 at H25, I wasn't having anything signed, just wanted to shake his hand and tell him congrats on a great career. So he and I talked for a second and the topic of autographs came up and he told me a story about when he went to England to do an appearance and signed all weekend for free. On the flight back to the states, he saw stuff he signed being sold for a great deal of money. It is what it is, it's a business now and I fully understand that.

Ted Raimi isn't! I just met him at a con this weekend, and he was $10.00 per item. I think that is more than enough to sign your own item. I can understand $20.00 for an 8x10 photo, but I think $10.00 is enough for a brought item. Because Ted was reasonable, I got seven items signed, and gave him $70.00. If he was charging $20.00 per item, I would only get three items signed for $60.00. I wish these stars would understand that they would make more by charging less! I remember going to cons years ago, and getting 3 or 4 items signed by each star. Now that prices have raised to $20, $25, and even $30 for my OWN item, I only get 1 item signed. I can name a few others that charge less. Hell Charlie Band signs for free! Sorry, but I won't pay $20.00 for someone like Will Sandin, who was in 1 horror movie for 5 minutes. I would happily pay $10.00 for him to sign my Halloween poster, but I will pass on $20.00. He isn't really needed that bad on the poster. I'm sure he is a very nice guy, and he did a great job in Halloween, but I just won't shell out $20.00 that easy. I'm sure the diehard Halloween fans will pay it, so more power to them.

PJ Soles was only $10 and she was in the movie way longer and has way more credits to her name. There are a lot of people that charge less than $20 an autograph.

The fact that P.J. and Ted Raimi have a ton of credits also means people may want several things signed and may come back for more. When you have one credit to your name as Will does once you get your prized Halloween item signed your done. Someone like him with one credit has a very limited window in the convention scene. These guests take what sometimes can be 5 full days of their lives to fly across the country and appear at these shows and it has to be worth their time or they won't do it. There is a lot more that goes into it personally and financially behind the scenes that you guys know nothing about. For example losing days of work at their "real job" leaving your family at home, having to pay someone to watch your kids or pets. Also I was at a show last weekend where one celebrity got very angry and vocal with another guest sitting next to him because that person was charging $10. He told him he was making him and everyone else look bad. So the next day he raised his price. So there are other pressures from people like the guests themselves that you guys don't know about.
Look we all want to believe that it is all about the fans but the reality is that it's a business first. Take away the money and see how many guests show up. Not trying to be a bummer, just being real with you guys. Edited:6/22/2009 1:45:49 PM (malfuncsean)

I still want Will to come if possible. I bet he has some incredible dirtbag stories of the jerks he has to deal with everyday...

I think they should charge what they want in the end so long as the more frequent guests are realistic about the spending habits of the attendees. If they price themselves out of sales then so be it. I'm sure it's a careful investment of time for a lot of these people who aren't regulars or those who hold other jobs or have family and pets that need sitters. If a guest is rare then they can afford to take the gamble of having slightly higher prices but if they're at every freaking convention then it isn't.
I will end up spending more with someone that I can get more things with. I've passed on Doug Jones every time because I just don't feel it's worth $25 to get a Fear Itself poster signed. If I was a huge fan of his I might've done it but I'm really not that into his work so it wasn't worth it to me. He might be a nice guy but his prices have kept me away. If it was $10-$15 for my item then I would've done it. But not $25 when I can spend that and maybe get two things signed from someone else that I'm a bigger fan of.
The pricing arguement has been done to death on here but I did want to make one more comment:
I think it's crappy when the guests start pressuring one another to charge more. If someone charging $20-25 for your item feels that someone charging $10-15 is making them look bad. . . well, it's that person's business choice. Is the cheaper guest making more money? Maybe they aren't. But if they are then maybe it's time to drop your prices a little and see if sales go up. Maybe they will and maybe they won't because for some people (like most of us for certain guests) it will make a big difference on whether we buy something from you or not. Or instead or dropping your price make a deal: $20 for one of your signed items or $30 for two. Ultimately it's an individual choice and I feel that it sucks that those who go cheaper have to get guff from their peers about it.
I still think it's a shame that Savini felt pressured to change his policy. If he was happy with it and didn't feel like he was losing money hand over fist then he should have been allowed to continue pricing however he wished.
And I hope that no attendees witnessed that recent discussion between two guests that Shaun referenced. It would make both of those guests, whoever they are, look bad to an attendee.
This whole thing makes me think of the competing gas stations we all see. The one on this corner lowers their price per gallon by a penny so the other one has to. . . . One raises their prices. . . .

I'm the same way as Full Moon. I'm sure it all balances out for the celebs but when I have several of my own things to get signed I wind up usally only getting one at a time if they are $20. I have a Coffy mini that I brought to the last HHW for Sid Haig. I didn't need it signed but since he was only $10 I got it. If he was $20 I would have passed. I have a ton of stuff for Tom Savini and Kane Hodder but at $20 a piece, I usually skip them. So from my own purchases, most celebs would make more from me if they were $10 on your own item.

I'm a huge Halloween fan but Will Sandin isn't a $20 guest, he'll be at Fright Night next weekend and I assumed he'd be $20 so the thought never crossed my mind to take my Halloween poster lol.
Its kind of ridiculous because a couple of years ago Fright Night had a huge reunion with a lot of the Halloween alums and everyone was $20... I skipped everybody.
With the economy the way it is these guys should really think about going back down to $10 at least for an item you bring, its not like it's going to hurt them in any way I'm sure a lot of folks would end up making more money at $10 a piece than at $20.

I miss the days where you could get an 8x10 and your item signed for $20 Edited:7/25/2010 2:21:47 AM (potatojoe)
