I'm just so thrilled to see the love for Halloween 4.  I really thought I was in a small box of fans for this film, what I believe to be the best sequel of the series.  I think this movie is very underrated and it is actually one of my favorite horror films period so to see so many people speaking out about loving this reunion and being excited over Ellie's addition makes me feel warm inside.  I really did feel quite alone in my fandom of Part 4.

The 81 part two is my favorite of all the Halloween movies and part 4 is my second favorite. The original would be my third favorite and the rest are not very good in my opinion..

I never was that big of a fan of the Halloween series, but I do really enjoy the 4th one.  It's probably my favorite one out of all of them, in my opinion.  I just think it's a fun movie, with good characters and really good acting and suspense.  It's put together quite well.  A few years ago, a local theater had a double feature showing of Halloween 4 and 5 on Halloween night, and I went to it with a couple of friends really to see part 4 on the big screen.  It was really cool.  Shame it wasn't very crowded.  Towards the end of the movie, at the rooftop scene the picture cut out for a short amount of time.  They got it fixed, and we all got free passes for a future use when we left so it was all cool.  Anyway, it's a cool movie, and it'll be cool to see these people at the show.  Looking forward to it.

Leatherface - I agree with this ALMOST entirely, with the exception being that 5 wasn't too bad either, since it was able to ride on the coat-tails of 4.  There were a few others that weren't too bad, like H2O - it was awesome seeing Jamie Lee vs. Michael again, and 666 gave us one last moment with Donald Pleasence, so I'll give that one some credit, too.

A few years ago, DDP put out a comic series called "Halloween - The First Death of Laurie Strode", which filled us in on what happened with Laurie AFTER part 2 and before part 4.  They never released the final issue (which pisses me off), but I've always secretly wished that Malek Akkad and some enterprising person would make a movie based on this time period in order to undo this whole farce with making 4 and 5 "non-canon".

Five had its moments. I didnt like the new myers house and it was kind of annoying with the mute girl thing Danille had to do for half the movie. It took on a friday the 13th feel in the barn and party scenes and I was kinda out of it at that point.

Pt 6 was a prelude to the whole white trash family thing that Zombie later perfected to a tee. Nuff said

Pt 7 or H20 was to sanitary for me. Upper class boarding school meets psycho killer.. Im being to harsh because i did like Chris Durands portrayal of Myers.

I really disliked part 5 because of the Myers house turning into a mansion.  The rest wasn't that great either.  It seemed they rushed to get this out.  If they had waited a year inbetween movies it might have turned out better.

Part 6 is a mess.  There are three different versions of the movie out there.  The Theatrical version, Producer's Cut, and TV version.  The producer's cut is the best but it still isn't good.  Michael Myers doing laundry?

Part 7 or H20 is OK and I don't have much to complain about with this one.  I think they tried to make this into a Scream type movie.

I liked the reality show idea with part 8 but it didn't turn out that well.  If they had gotten rid of the Busta Rhymes kung fu character and changed the ending a bit it might have been much better.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything said here.  Part 5 has some nice moments, my personal favorite being when Loomis tells the cop, "Michael Myers is out...side."  That's the last thing I want anyone to ever tell me.

But yeah, the freaking Munster's house being the new Myers house was bothersome.  The mute girl scenario made sense, but wasn't very good for a film's star to be mute and it not be Children of a Lesser God.  They killed Rachel (one of the series best heroines) off in the beginning and replaced her with Tina...while super hot, but the most annoying final girl's ever put on film.

And thank you for the Friday the 13th comment on the barn kill.  I totally saw Michael being much more Jason in this film.

The two goofball cops (with their own campy, screwball theme music) just pisses me off.

The mask looks terrible in this one and especially since the signature collar of the coveralls isn't put up over it.

The addition of the man in black with no real direction or explaination is just irresponsible filmmaking.

I forgot about the mutt and jeff keystone kops in part 5, they were worse than the interior barn scene kills. Shanks and Morga looked very similiar in the barn scenes. Put a hock on Shanks and it was F13 the new beginning all over again...

I also thought the man in black angle was kinda weird and added nothing to part 5. On a side note the man in black was played by Don Shanks. He told me that at Indy earlier this year.  The brute mask scene in the camaro was probably one of the better scenes in the movie as far as suspense building.

Oh yeah, I like the scene with the brute mask in the car with Tina at the gas station.  That was actually pretty decent.  There's not much else to say though.

I break the Halloween series down personally, like this.

1. Halloween (1978) is the best of the bunch.  Jamie Lee Curtis puts in one of the best debuts I've ever seen, especially for a throwaway indie horror film.

2. Halloween 4 because of the characters, the rural feeling they brought to Haddonfield and the story is just nice.  There are some really cool scenes and dialogue in this film, it's written pretty well.  The music is cool.  The acting is pretty good for what this film is, especially 11 year old Danielle Harris...wow.  I like that in this film, the people KNOW what Michael is capable of unlike in the first one.  When Brackett heard about Myers he doubted there was any risk but Beau Starr and the townsfolk KNOW and some of them want revenge.  It was just handled really well in my book.

3. Halloween 2 is very strong and probably is a tie with Part 4 as the best sequel.  It's just really good, one of the best slasher films ever made.

4. Halloween 3--for years this movie took hard knocks but darnit, it is actually a very awesome horror film.  In all honesty, it is the most disturbing of all of the Halloween films.  A company plotting to kill all of the children of the world on Halloween night?  C'mon?  Not only do we get this fine homage to "Body Snatchers" but we also get Tom Freaking Atkins for 90 minutes.

5. Rob Zombie's Halloween--Yes it was brutal and explicit but I think Rob did a great job with doing something close but all his own.

6. Halloween 6--Yes, it became a mess and the ending is just terrible but I really liked this film--all versions.  If anything, Paul Rudd (I knew this guy was better than this movie when I first saw it) puts in a memorable performance.  There's a lot of things to gripe about in this one, but I think it's a pretty "dark" film and brings some real HALLOWEEN mythos to the series and it actually LOOKS like Halloween in Illinois with the dead leaves everywhere.  I like this one.

7.  H20--It was a copycat of what SCREAM was trying to do but it really wasn't too bad.  Not great, had a lot of things that upset me, but to see Laurie and Michael come face to face again was kind of gnarly.

8. Halloween 5--We've talked about why this one sucks.  It's what you get when you hire a French filmmaker who has no idea what he's really doing and has no real knowledge of the series and doesn't really care what the fans will think.  It was like giving a four year old a crayon in the Sistine Chapel and letting him loose.

9. H2--I need to watch this one again to really comment but I really disliked this movie.  I was sitting there wondering WHAT happened?  Like Frenchy on Part 5, this is what happens when you let someone take a beloved series and characters and do whatever they want to do with it.  When you don't care about the fans, you get this.  A movie where Zombie takes one of horror's most iconic and loved characters (Dr. Loomis), and turns him into a douche bag.  The biggest crime of this film was what he DIDN'T do.  I think most people would agree that the most interesting characters and performers in Zombie's Halloween films were the Bracketts.  Danielle Harris and Brad Douriff were the thunder of the film that never got to rumble in part 2.  I think I would have been ten times more happy if Laurie became the secondary lead while Annie took over as the head lead.  I'd have rather seen Danielle carry the film because after her scene in Rob's first film (the best of that movie), I wanted more Annie and Sheriff Brackett.

10. Halloween 8--Ugh.  I won't even waste my time discussing this one.  A decent idea for a movie, just not for a Halloween movie with Michael Myers in it.  Rappers and slashers just don't belong in the same movie.

Agree for the most part with you about Halloween 78 except for....

I love Halloween II 81 the best out of the whole series. Dick Warlock is the best Myers ever and the hospital setting is scary since we are led to believe your always safe at the hospital..

Part three was a very good movie if you forget the title of the movie. I have always liked that movie.

Part four is a great follow up to II. The series was on a high note again and the movie paced very well and made sense which leads to....

Part 5  a complete utter mess, except for the gas station scene as discussed before.

Part 6 I just didnt like for many reasons and it is not worth typing about.

H20.   I am not a huge fan of Jamie Lee so that didnt sell it for me.. After further thought this movie contained one of the scariest myers scenes in my opinion. The bathroom/rest stop area scene where myers comes in a steal the ladies car keys and lets her and her kid live...Very scary

Ressurection....D.O.A

Zombie 1 Decent and watchable

Zombie 2 Utter shit....

I kind of like to think of Parts 1 and 2 as one film.  That is my favorite thing about Part 2...it's just the continuation of Part 1.  Part 2 doesn't have to waste time in building story like the original so it can keep getting to the good stuff. I do think the hospital setting was so awesome.  Part 2 also features one of my all-time favorite moments in the series, if not my VERY favorite.  The scene where Michael steals the knife from the old couple when they are watching "Night of the Living Dead"...the announcer cuts in and as he says, "He is believed to be still at large in Haddonfield" and we see Michael standing behind the couple in the kitchen and then vanishes...awesome!

Yeah, I have to agree that the bathroom scene in the beginning of H20 is very scary.  A horrific idea.  There's something very creepy about rest stops in general and H20 did it better than the actual movie REST STOP...lol.

I thought you were one of the supporters of H2 Leatherface...guess I got you mixed up with someone else.

Part 6 is pretty shakey.  One of the moments I really loved though was when Michael slaughters the doctors.  I was actually pretty upset watching the movie the first time because I didn't like the idea that thess cult doctors were controlling Michael.  So when he breaks in a kills all of them, I thought that was pretty cool.  That scene where Michael's chasing them down the corridor and they lock the gate on the doctor...poor guy.  That was pretty horrifying to imagine.  The Producer's Cut is a lot better.

Bottom line, I will defend Halloweens 1-4 all day long.  I would actually put 1, 2 and 4 in my top 50 horror films of all-time actually.
