HorrorHound Weekend Returns to Columbus

To paraphrase an iconic holiday quote; “Yes, Virginia, There is a HorrorHound Weekend: Columbus."

Indeed – HorrorHound Weekend returns to Columbus, Ohio this November 3-5th, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North. (Click Here for the now-launched Web Site.) This will be the first HHW event in the area since March of 2012, when the three-day horror film convention took over the same Crowne Plaza hotel for a one-off event that proved too popular to forget. And yes .... tickets are NOW AVAILABLE (click here)! Ever since 2012, fans have been emailing, calling, messaging, and personally requesting HorrorHound's return to the Columbus area, where our 2012 event reached capacity numbers and broke sales records for vendors and celebrity attendees alike. While the show was a huge success, it was never intended to be a recurring event.

A Little History: In 2011, HorrorHound received news that a booking error meant we had lost our annual March dates for our all future Indianapolis events (at the time, we hosted shows in Indy in the Spring and Cincinnati in the Fall). Our regular Cincinnati location was unable to accommodate a March switch for 2012, which led to a clever fix. We would skip Cincinnati in 2012 – and temporarily host our annual March event in Columbus – just 100 miles North. And effectively switching Indy and Cincinnati dates by 2013 (which also resulted in our moving into the Sharonville Convention Center in Cincinnati, another positive twist in this oddball story of happy accidents). But when our Columbus event was underway - we realized we had unexpectedly created a monster ... a monster that has been stalking us for 5 years since. Due to the work load to put on two events (and publish 8 magazines a year), our goal was not to put on as many shows as possible. Quality over quantity is our key goal. But we couldn't ignore the requests any further.

The Plan: Coming up with a plan for a return to Columbus poses its own issues. We have to work a totally original show in a date that doesn't affect our pre-existing events. How does one do that? Through a series of events – we came up with a great solution. November 3-5th may be a bit early for a Christmas themed show ... but it's perfect for a Christmas Horror Show! Thus: HorrorHound's Haunted Holidays was born! HorrorHound Weekend: Columbus will present a series of celebrity guests from some of the most iconic Christmas and Christmas horror films we could secure. Stars of such films as Silent Night Deadly Night (Robert Brian Wilson), Black Christmas, Gremlins (Zach Galligan), Jack Frost (Scott MacDonald), The Nightmare Before Christmas (Chris Sarandon), A Christmas Story, Dutch (Ethan Embry), and I Am Santa Claus (WWE Legend Mick Foley). And (as you can surmise), not all of the guests have been revealed. (Make sure you keep up to date with news on the official HorrorHound Weekend Facebook.)

That's Not All: If that guest list isn't "cool" enough – this Holiday-themed horror show will boast a number of exciting extras, playing off the holiday motif. We will be presenting special CHRISTMAS Celeb Photo Ops! What does this mean? We will deck out the photo-op station in full Christmas decor (tree and all). Special guests will be "dressed for the occasion" as well, including Robert Brian Wilson, who will be doing costumed ops as the killer Santa. Scott MacDonald will be paired with a specially-made Snowman prop replica. Zach Galligan will have a Santa-hat-wearing furry friend with him, while additional guests will have props and outfits that work with the spirit of the event (including Santa hats, candy canes, and more). This is a perfect opportunity for families to have their 2017 Christmas Photos taken WITH their favorite stars! Additionally, HorrorHound will be producing limited holiday-themed merchandise which will be available at the show. This includes (for the first time ever) a long-sleeve event tee boasting an ugly HorrorHound Christmas sweater design - glass ornaments - embroidered stockings - red and green embroidered beanies - limited edition enamel pins - and so much more (we are still working on items!)! VIP attendees, in fact, will receive an exclusive ornament, pin set, and the VIP pass will even be designed to double as an ornament for your Christmas tree. We can't wait to announce even more of the plans in store for this Columbus event!

More Than Christmas: Yes, it's true. There will be guests in attendance that work outside of the Christmas theme (we have to show some range). Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning (for example) will be included in the mix of HorrorHound fun, as a special reunion is planned (keep checking www.horrorhoundweekend.com for those reveals). Furthermore - this show is also honoring Columbus-based horror host FRITZ THE NITE OWL. This year (2017) will be the final year for new Nite Owl episode screenings. After this December, no more new episodes will be produced. In the future, special event or convention episodes will be the only new content. Fritz will be done shooting new episodes so he can focus on growing his series with his vast library of already produced episodes. Fritz will continue to make occasional live appearances for conventions or monthly repeat screenings – but the show is done with production – making it the official retirement of Fritz The Nite Owl. Come celebrate this historical career that began 43 years ago with the original Nite Owl Theatre. Celebrate with Fritz, Saturday, November 4th at HorrorHound Weekend: Columbus – with more surprises to be revealed in the coming months!
